Planning the week around the rental
Stone Harbor is a borough on the southern portion of Seven Mile Island in Cape May County. Avalon is the neighboring borough to the north. The Atlantic Ocean is on the east, and the salt marshes are on the west. Most shops and restaurants are on 96th Street.
Beach entrances cross the dunes at the numbered streets. Beach tags are required in summer, under dates and prices set by the borough. The Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary is a protected heronry in the oceanfront dunes; watch it from outside the protected area. The Wetlands Institute is on Stone Harbor Boulevard, beside the marsh on the way in from the mainland.
Most visitors arrive by car. The Garden State Parkway connects from the north through Avalon, and from the south across the marsh on Stone Harbor Boulevard. The vacation guide and the beach guide go further into the layout of a stay.
